Holden and Mercutio..
Tuesday, November 18, 2008
Conversation with Horowitz..
- Horowitz is more impatient
- Holden is calm and wants to talk with Horowitz
- Horowitz seems like he doesn't want to talk
- Horowitz is an older man
- Holden is young
- Holden enjoys going out for a drink
- Horowitz doesn't and can't since he's a cab driver
- Horowitz is a very touchy guy
Allie's Poetry Assignment..
My Acrostic:
Drowning out all my surroundings
Into a place where everything’s calm
Serenity replaces the stressful days
Creating a more peaceful place for me to relax
My Haiku:
Problems go away,
As soon as I hear a song.
Secret get a away
Two author’s poems:
- Rain by Shel Silverstein
I opened my eyes
And looked up at the rain,
And it dripped in my head
And flowed into my brain,
And all that I hear as I lie in my bed
Is the slishity-slosh of the rain in my head.
I step very softly,
I walk very slow,
I can't do a handstand--
I might overflow,
So pardon the wild crazy thing I just said--
I'm just not the same since there's rain in my head.
- Kissass by Allen Ginsberg
Kissass is the Part of Peace
America will have to Kissass Mother Earth
Whites have to Kissass Blacks, for Peace & Pleasure,
Only Pathway to Peace, Kissass.
Holden's conversation on the Train..
Dear Ernest,
So, I talked to Rudolf yesterday, and he told me so much stuff about Pencey and you! I really thought his name was something else, but I guess not. I was very surprised with all the things he told me, actually. You never told me that you were voted class president Ernest! You have to tell me everything about it, and why you wanted to be class president. Oh, and poor, poor Rudolf has a minor brain tumor?! You never told me this sad news, we should do something for him; maybe donate money to help him pay for the expenses of the operation. You know, you and all your “popular” friends could help out too for Rudolf. He seemed like a nice guy, but something was really weird about the conversation. Ernest, I can’t believe you never told me any of this! There’s so much stuff we have to catch up on, and so much stuff we have to do! Well, hopefully we’ll see each other very soon to get started. Call me sometime so you can tell me everything else I don’t know about Pencey and all your friends!
Love always,
Mom
